Clean Air Act

Find information about federal Clean Air Act regulations, programs, guidance and contacts. The Act and its amendments establish the basic structure for regulating discharges of pollutants into the atmosphere of the United States. It gives EPA the authority to implement pollution control programs, such as setting air quality standards, instituting a permitting program and requiring each state to create a State Implementation Program (SIP) outlining controls to achieve air quality standards in the state and to control emissions from mobile and stationary sources.
