University of Vermont president Daniel Mark Fogel announced that he has formed a new President’s Commission on Sustainability that will make strategic recommendations about policies and activities necessary to achieve the University’s climate change and environmental responsibility goals. The Commission’s first order of business is to create a Climate Neutrality Working Group at UVM and create the Office of Sustainability, which will be led by Gioia Thompson, who has been a champion of environmental issues at UVM since 1996 and a national leader on campus performance reporting and environmental stewardship.
