The New Jersey Institute of Technology agreed to promote green chemistry in school laboratory experiments, as part of a settlement with the Region 2 office of U.S. EPA. Under the terms of the settlement, NJIT must spend at least $125,000 to showcase greener lab practices and to measure the amounts of solvent and energy reductions that can be achieved through modified laboratory practices. The Institute will also work with local high schools in promoting alternative chemistry practices.
