California Announces Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Awards

The Los Angeles Community College District received a 2007 Governor's award for their use of bond money to modernize all nine community college campuses and support the renovation projects with a commitment to meet national green building standards. According to the announcement, the college district is also implementing certain renewable energy strategies so that each campus will generate sufficient power to ultimately take them "off the grid" saving millions of dollars over the life of the renovated buildings.
