E-mail groups and LISTSERVs

WHAT IS A LISTSERV?

A LISTSERV is the common term for an automatic mailing list server. When e-mail is addressed to a LISTSERV mailing list, it is automatically broadcast to everyone on the list. The result is similar to a newsgroup or forum, except that the messages are transmitted as e-mail and are therefore available only to individuals on the list.

The following table identifies listservs that are principally focused on environmental compliance and environmental management issues on campus. For additional information regarding sustainability listservs, viewers are encouraged to link to our affiliate partner AASHE for a complete listing (www.aashe.org) of general interest, academic and specialized (e.g., food, building) listservs.
